Study of Soil Scattering Coefficients in Combination with Diesel for a Slightly Rough Surface in the Cj Band
نویسنده
چکیده
The value of the back-scattering coefficient of soil is dependent on its dielectric constant. An attempt has been made to estimate the scattering coefficient for a slightly rough surface for soil in combination with diesel, using the Perturbation Model. A database of the estimated Cj band (5.3 GHz) scattering coefficients for soil in combination with diesel for both horizontal and vertical polarization and different look angles has been generated. The results show that as the diesel contamination increases, the scattering coefficient decreases in both horizontal and vertical polarization. For active microwave remote sensing the scattering coefficient data for soil in combination with diesel for different weight percentage content is useful for image analysis and its applications. By using this database it is possible to design an active microwave sensor for remote sensing detection of oil, which would be useful in the field of environmental science. The backscattering coefficient for three different look angles (45, 50 and 55) has been calculated, which is desirable for space borne remote sensing sensors.

Soil erosion is one of the major environmental problems worldwide. Morphometric and landcover analysis provides a platform for quick and efficient watershed management In the present study, morphometric parameters have been coupled with land cover classes to assess soil erosion susceptibility of sub-watersheds of lavasanat watershed. The data used in this study included Advanced Space borne T...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Scattering from Slightly Rough Surfaces with Inhomogeneous Dielectric Profiles
Remote sensing of soil moisture using microwave sensors require accurate and realistic scattering models for rough soil surfaces. In the past, much effort has been devoted to the development of scattering models for either perfectly conducting or homogeneous rough surfaces. In practice, however, the permittivity of most soil surfaces is nonuniform, particularly in depth, for which analytical so...
متن کاملReanalysis of L-band brightness predicted by the LSP/R model-for prairie grassland: incorporation of rough surface scattering
L-band brightness predicted by the land surface process/radiobrightness (LSP/R) model for prairie grassland appears to be somewhat lower than expected [1]. A crucial reason for the underestimate of the L-band brightness is that the soil surface was treated as smooth. In this paper, surface scattering of the soil determined by the IEM model is incorporated into the LSP/R model to examine its imp...
